PETROLIA, ON The Central Lambton Family Health Team (CLFHT) announced today that Dr. Alex Leonard will be joining the team as a Family Physician effective August 1. 2020.
Dr. Leonard graduated from Western University with a Medical Sciences degree in Physiology. He is a longtime resident of Wallaceburg where he resides with his wife Michelle.
No stranger to the Family Health Team, Dr. Leonard was a rural medicine resident in Petrolia and worked closely with all members of the team. For the past year he has been working in the Emergency Department at Bluewater Health Sarnia, but made the decision to return to Petrolia to build a family practice. Dr. Leonard expressed his enthusiasm for the move, “My wife and I couldn’t be more excited for me to be returning to Petrolia on a full-time basis. After how much I enjoyed my two years of residency here, I couldn’t imagine opening a practice anywhere else. I am looking forward to seeing all those familiar faces again and meeting new ones along the way.”
Rosanne Orcutt, Chair of the CLFHT Doctor Recruitment Committee, said, “We are thrilled that Dr. Leonard has come back to serve our community. He is an outstanding young man devoted to the care of his patients.”
The CLFHT Board Chair, Mary-Pat Gleeson, congratulated the team’s Recruitment Committee for their tireless work on behalf of our communities, “We are so fortunate that Dr. Leonard is returning to Petrolia. It’s important to acknowledge the Recruitment Committee’s efforts to secure new doctors for us. Five new doctors in five years is a remarkable achievement. Of course, none of this would be possible without the continuous and generous support of the CEE Hospital Foundation.”
Sarah Milner, Executive Director of the team, said, “The timing couldn’t be better as there is an increase in capacity for care in the County. We worked with Dr. Leonard throughout his residency and coverage for other group physicians and I have no doubt that he will be an amazing addition to the team.”
