The following recommendations are based on the Canadian Cancer Society’s “Seven Steps to Health” and are provided as a guide to help you reduce the risk of developing cancer.

Choose to not smoke and to avoid second-hand smoke. |

Healthy Body Weight (BMI) – being physically active on a regular basis will help maintain a healthy body weight. |
O |
Oh, Oh, Ozone – regularly reduce your sun exposure and report any changes to your doctor. |
I |
Inform your health care provider if you notice any change in your normal state of health |
C |
Cancer Screening for Women – discuss mammograms, pap tests and breast exams with a health professional.
Cancer Screening for Men – discuss testicular exams and prostate screening with a health professional. Both men and women should discuss colon and rectal cancers. |
E |
Environmental Pollution – follow health and safety instructions at home and at work when using, storing, and disposing of hazardous materials. |
S |
Strive for Five – eat 5 to 10 servings of vegetables and fruit a day. Choose high fibre and lower fat foods. If you drink alcohol, limit your intake to 1 to 2 drinks a day. |
